What are your responsibilities at Circular Materials?
At Circular Materials, I focus on developing precipitation recipes from a chemical perspective to achieve maximum removal of pollutants in wastewater (such as metals and/or hazardous organic compounds). I also supervise the process from an engineering standpoint, overseeing some of the chemical processes both before and after treatment.
What is your educational background?
I earned a Master’s degree in Chemistry and Sustainable Technologies from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where I also carried out a research fellowship on the use of supercritical CO₂ in the department’s green chemistry laboratories. I have always been very interested in sustainable chemical processes, which naturally led me to join CM.
How have you developed your skills at CM?
Given the multidisciplinary nature of the project, CM has allowed me to deepen my knowledge of chemical plants from various technical perspectives, providing a much broader understanding of the processes. Applying the knowledge I gained during my studies to solve client problems and meet their needs has been highly motivating, pushing me to continually refine and expand my skills to adapt them to the context.
How would you describe your relationship with the team?
I have an excellent relationship with the CM team. Our similar age and educational backgrounds make interaction easy and create a dynamic environment. Discussing projects on a daily basis allows each of us to contribute our own expertise and experience to the work being done.
What aspects of Circular Materials’ project do you appreciate the most?
The circular economy, which underpins CM, is definitely the aspect I value most. Recovering chemicals from waste in a sustainable way makes the project interesting both now and for the future.
