An interview with Enrico Mion.

The Interview

What are your responsibilities at Circular Materials?

As Technical Manager, I am structuring CM’s internal engineering team and providing technical support for all activities developed within HUB zero. I design plant solutions, improve equipment safety and efficiency, support automation efforts, standardize design procedures, and coordinate maintenance to gather essential operational data.
I also oversee relationships with key suppliers and help identify new technological partners. Looking ahead, I will be involved in the engineering and scale-up required for HUB1, the first continuous industrial plant based on our technologies.

What is your educational background?

I graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of Padua. After an initial role as a Quality Engineer, I spent several years as a process engineer in a major petrochemical multinational, working on process optimization and the construction and commissioning of new plants.
I later spent about 15 years in plant engineering, first as Project Engineer and then as Head of Process in a large multidisciplinary engineering company, gaining extensive technical, regulatory, and managerial experience.

How have you developed your skills at CM?

So far, I have mainly applied the professional expertise gained throughout my career. I am learning the technical specifics of CM’s process and the results of laboratory and pilot activities, while familiarizing myself with regulations related to wastewater treatment and circular economy.

How would you describe your relationship with the team?

I naturally get along well with colleagues and maintain a collaborative attitude. I work more closely with some team members due to project needs, but I try to make myself available to everyone—especially younger colleagues—by offering technical guidance and methodological support.

What aspects of Circular Materials’ project do you appreciate the most?

I value CM’s strong long-term vision and its commitment to building industrial plants that enable sustainable resource recovery. The potential of this technology is significant, and the challenge of bringing it to industrial scale is what motivated me to join the company. It offers the opportunity to contribute to a clear objective that creates value while generating a positive impact on the environment.
